SSL Certificates secure the connection between your website and your customer?s browser. Once your SSL certificate has been issued and installed, you will enjoy uninterrupted online security.
Boost Credibility
Gain your customers' trust with a secured site
SSL Certificates are a necessity for online businesses and other websites. Online customers are aware of the difference between a secure and unsecure website. Having an SSL certificate your website will ensure you never lose out on traffic and sales.
Strongest Encryption
Military-Grade SHA2 & ECC 128/256 bit encryption
Our SSL Certificates use SHA2 & ECC 128/256 bit encryption which is an industry benchmark. It comes with the option of several bit lengths, the most popular one being 256. The encryption ensures that data transmitted through the network remains secure. If you have a certificate that has a SHA1 certificate, we strongly recommend that you update your certificate to SHA2 as risks have been identified with the former.
Address bar Visibility
Prominently display your secured state to your audience
The issuance of an Extended Validation or EV certificate provides your website with your company name on a green bar and padlock in the web browser where your website is displayed. The address of the website changes from HTTP to HTTPS which also signifies that the website is secured. This is a universally recognized visual display of a secure online property. Your customers will feel more confident making online payments on your website.
Improved SEO
Secure your website to rank higher in search results
Websites that are not digitally certified have fewer website traffic and fewer conversions as customers lack the confidence to browse through the site. Further, browsers such as Google Chrome notify website visitors with a warning if a site has no valid SSL certificate. Search engines such as Google penalize websites identified to be not secured.
Extended Validation
Display your company name on the Address bar
In addition to domain validation, SSL Security Certificates provide an extensive validation of your business as well. The Certificate Authority will verify if your business registration is legal and your domain name’s WhoIs information is authentic, ensuring only the most trusted companies display the green bar and padlock on their website-which is the ultimate assurance of web security.
Site Seal
A visible badge of credibility for your website
SSL Certificates allow you to place a Site Seal logo on your website giving your customers further visual assurance of the security and credibility of your website.
Secure all Sub-domains
Encrypt all your mini-sites with WildCard SSL
Secure all your website subdomains with one plan i.e the Wildcard Plan. The Wildcard plans cover your primary domain (www.domain.com/domain.com) as well as all other subdomains such as mail.domain.com, login.domain.com, etc.
Total Browser Compatibility
Your security is intact on every web browser
SSL Certificates are compatible with 99.9% of web browsers, ensuring that whichever mode your customers use to reach you, your network connection with their browser is secured. Our SSL certificates are supported by Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer, Edge & more!
  • What is an SSL Certificate?

SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer. An SSL certificate allows you to provide an extra layer of security to your website. This is useful if you store sensitive information about your customers on your website.

By having an SSL certificate the data on your site would be encrypted and secure.

We would recommend an SSL certificate if you have an ecommerce store or if you have a membership site where you store information about your members.

When you have an SSL certificate installed on your domain your browser will display a security padlock next to your web address.

  • Why do I need an SSL Certificate for my website?

If your site sends or receives sensitive information, customers expect it to be secured with an SSL certificate. Many will leave your site if they see that it is not secured. Furthermore, Google now rank sites that use an SSL certificate higher than sites that do not, so having an SSL certificate on your site can boost your search engine ranking.

  • How will people know my website is safe?

Once an SSL certificate has been purchased, installed, and is active on your website, visitors will be able to see a number of trusted signs that your site is secure. When visitors enter an SSL-protected page on your website, they will see a locked padlock and the “https” in their browser address bar. You will also have the option (recommended!) to add a security seal on your web pages. This seal will clearly communicate that your website has been verified and is secure. A visitor may click on this SSL seal to view the details and status of your website’s SSL certificate.

  • How does an SSL certificate work?

An SSL certificate is a file installed on the web server that a website is running on. This file is composed of two segments. The first is the public key, which encrypts data. The second is the private key, which decrypts data. When a client, such as a web browser, connects to an SSL secured server a unique session is created using these two keys. All data transmitted during this session is protected, and cannot be decrypted by any party other than that specific client and the server.

  • What are the different types of SSL?

There are 3 different levels of vetting that SSL Certificates are based upon. Domain Validated (DV), Organization Validated (OV), and Extended Validation (EV). The major difference between the types of certificate relates to the information the Certificate Authority, RapidSSL, GeoTrust, Comodo, Thawte, GogetSSL and Symantec, requires and validates in order to issue a certificate. The higher levels of certificate require more information, and often is displayed in the browser bar. EV SSL for example turns the browser bar green and displays the organization name to visitors to generate more trust.

  • What is Domain Validation?

Domain Validated (DV) SSL certificates include the address bar padlock in all major browsers and are the lowest-priced SSL Certificate options for validation and encryption for your domain and website, and are usually issued in 15 minutes. No paperwork is required in most cases and includes all options include a Website Seal of Certification trust indicator.

Popular “good products direct” to you Domain Validated (DV) SSL Certificates are ideal for blogs, personal websites and small business sites. They do not offer ecommerce or capture financial information; and often include a “website seal” that can be included in web pages.

  • What is a Wildcard Certificate?

Wildcard SSL certificate provides the same encryption and authentication features as other SSL certificates but can also be applied to an unlimited number of subdomains of a website.

For example “demo.seawavestechnology.co.za”, “shop.seawavestechnology.co.za”, and “storage.seawavestechnology.co.za” would be considered as sub-domains of “seawavestechnology.co.za”.

  • What are the advantages of an EV SSL Certificate?

EV, or Extended Validation, is the highest class of SSL available today and gives more credibility and trust to your website than other SSL Certificates. They include features such as the green address bar and display of your company name that have been proven to boost trust and consumer confidence.

  • What does the green address bar do?

The green address bar gives an intuitive visual cue that your business is legitimate. The green bar is only available with Extended Validation (EV) certificates. In contrast, major web browsers have integrated anti-phishing protection so that known phishing sites will display a red address bar. Studies have shown a strong, positive impact for businesses that use EV certificates.

  • Can I upgrade my SSL Certificates?

Once you purchase a certificate, we can’t upgrade it – a new certificate would need to be purchased. However, if you need a more secure certificate immediately, you can purchase it and install it on the same web server as the old certificate. If you don’t need the more secure certificate immediately, you can wait until your current certificate expires and install a more secure one at that time.
